Pair
of Louis XV Period "Fauteuils a la Reine
Country: France
Period: 1770
Exceptional pair of Louis XV Period "Fauteuils a la Reine"
they are finely carved of of walnut with little flower details at the
top, and on the crosspiece and front feet.
The armrest consoles are in "coup de fouet" and build way
behind the feet to facilitate women's seating with large dresses (common
at Louis XV time). The back rest is flat and therefore called "a la
Reine".
One carries the "estampille "(mark) of P. MALBET accepted as
"Maitre Ebeniste" in 1765. Next to it is the interlaced
hallmark "JME" of the "Jurande", sort of Union
certifying the quality of these very respected (worldwide) artisans.
The other piece is an exact replica
The upholstery has been entirely redone (horsehairs). Covered with muslin
to wait for final fabric in the taste of the owner.
