Cave
a Liqueur from France - Circa 1850
A "Cave a Liqueur”, is a small Cabinet of extreme refinement.
The "Cave” we are presenting here is of exceptional and rare
quality as all 20 pieces -4 decanters and 16 glasses-are the original
Saint Louis crystal set and are all copper wheel engraved with Flowers
and leaves, even the stoppers are engraved! The set is in absolutely
perfect condition (14 pieces (4 decanters and 10 glasses) still carry the
Saint Louis original stick-on label). The cabinet frame is in Bronze
Dore, resting on 4 adjustable feet and has 5 facets made of thick,
ground, polished and Beveled crystal. The crystal ware carrier is also in
Bronze Dore, and when inside the cabinet rest on a mirror (the 6th face).
Very exceptional also: the
cabinet has its original key and a working lock! In 19th Century France
this was an absolute object of embellishment in the home. A symbol of
the" French Art of Entertaining”. The best craftsmen of the
country were making them.
What makes this Cabinet most charming is the luxurious and elegant
Crystal ware from Saint Louis.
Typically, the decanters had Cognac or
Calvados for men, and "fruit liquors such as Chartreuse, Cointreau,
Grand Marnier , Benedictine etc...for the Women. Was made Circa 1850, in Paris with the crystal coming from Saint Louis (East

Charger
France - Circa 1930

produced by Sevres. It shows a geometric arrangement of intertwined
concentric ring segments highlighted by spaced dots. The center of the
bowl has a spiral shell design, giving the impression of an exploding
galaxy.
The white opalescence is enhanced by a bluish hue (due to the light
diffusion by the micro crystals provoking the opale effect) one can find
in of Sabino or Lalique work.
Designer J. Landier and France are marked on the outside top. This bowl is
